Here is the full video of Joe Biden’s Vice Presidential Acceptance Speech, and the surprise appearance by Barack Obama.  I’ve also included some media and blogger reaction to Biden’s speech.  What do you think about Joe Biden?  Will he make a good running mate for Obama?  Will he be a good VP?  Let me know what you think in comments.

From Let Us Talk

In a single sentence, Obama’s new running mate complimented John McCain’s years of military service and slapped his claim on the presidency.

Senator Biden told the convention that he learned a lot about Obama by campaigning against him for the party’s presidential nomination. Biden said that in debating Obama, watching him react under pressure, he learned about the strength of the Democratic presidential candidate’s mind and his ability to touch and inspire people.

From Trail Blazers Blog

Back in 1992, Democratic vice presidential nominee Al Gore roused a Democratic Convention by getting it to join in telling the first Bush administration: “It’s time for them to go.”

And on Wednesday night, Joe Biden did something similar, denouncing a series of votes by Republican John McCain and then adding each time, “That’s not change; that’s more of the same.”

By the time he reached the second of six such rejoinders, the packed crowd in the Pepsi Center was chanting along with the Delaware senator: “That’s not change. That’s more of the same.”

From Paul Levinson

Republican pundits have been “faulting” the Democratic Convention before tonight for not offering hard-hitting criticism of John McCain.

Joe Biden’s powerhouse speech tonight amply gave them their wish.

Biden’s attack on McCain’s poor judgment on foreign policy, contrasted with the astute calls on world affairs made by Obama, will be the keystone of the Democratic campaign. And Biden was just as truthfully scathing about McCain’s domestic policies, on everything from empowering the rich to wanting to derail Amtrak.

Biden is the right pick at the right time. With Americans acutely aware of how limited opportunity is to us, the story of Joe Biden is inspiring-and he remains, in a Senatorial sort of way, a pretty damned humble guy. I totally agree with Biden as the pick.
