Women’s Voices Making History – Top Women Bloggers
For the last few weeks, Women’s Voices Women’s Vote has been holding nominations for women bloggers, and last week they announced their top ten.
In celebration of Women’s History Month, WVWV honored female bloggers through our Women making History contest. The 10 most nominated bloggers are listed below – Vote for your favorite!
Now you can view the top ten, and check out their blogs and profiles. Then you can vote for your favorite, I believe you have till April 11th to vote. Who is your favorite?
My favorite is Jill Miller Zimon, from Write Like She Talks. And Jill was kind enough to to participate in a little “mini” interview with me for this post.
I asked Jill two questions. The first was…
How do you feel about being nominated as one of the top ten female bloggers?
I think it’s fun and flattering, but I should confess that I am often both the first one to post the results of such things as well as the one who dashes to look at the methodology – because we know that these kinds of things often are a test of social networking and connecting skills. Which really means: who has the most accurate e-mail lists.
And who votes for themselves!
In all seriousness, we cannot overemphasize how important it is for women to voice their ideas – whether they are in the form of questions or opinions. The Internet levels the playing field to some degree because it allows anonymity and therefore less judging based on stereotypes about what women “usually” write about or would “typically” say.
Women approach issues with different experiences, history and perspective and it’s mandatory that those experiences, history and perspective get figured into our formulation not just of what’s going on, but how we change what’s going on.
So, to the extent that being nominated demonstrates that my voice is getting out there, I’m very, very honored.
And my second question was…
What advice would you give to other aspiring women bloggers?
Oh – I hate this cliché, but it’s true: just do it. When you feel like making a comment on a blog or an Internet news site newstory? Just do it. If you find that you are leaving a lot of comments or wanting to leave a lot of comments, think about starting a blog. If you aren’t sure you can keep up a blog, get others to do it with you, or don’t put pressure on yourself – post when you can, about whatever you like, at whatever length is comfortable. Trust me – you will either decide it’s not for you, or you will become totally enamored of the potential to learn and make a difference – in your own life if no one else’s!
Great answers Jill, thanks for taking the time.
I hope everyone will take some time and check out all the women who have been nominated, and vote for the one you believe is the best. Here is the link one more time…Women’s Voices Making History – Favorite Female Blogger

Thanks so much Catherine – you know I nominated you because of how you take action!! Also, thanks Sue -i’m off to check out your site.
Mostly, just bringing more attention to the variety of women’s voices out here is the best thing about the WVWV effort.
