Hillary Clinton – They Just Can’t Explain It
Here is a guest post from Pam at Pam’s Coffee Conversation.
They Just Can’t Explain It
… or maybe they don’t want to try.
Hillary Clinton won’t back down, play nice, take her toys and go home. And the American voters are simply not behaving… predictably.
On Tuesday night, March 4th, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton won the Texas and Ohio primaries, (the ones that everyone said that she HAD to win), and the media pundits just can’t explain it. Even when they try to explain it, they seem to only end up more confused.
Many in the commercial media and in the blogosphere have thrown “everything but the kitchen sink” at Senator Clinton during this campaign. Of course, it’s whining when anyone points this out.
Now the media wants to verbally smack Senator Clinton’s hands because she’s “thrown everything but the kitchen sink” at Senator Barack Obama to revive her campaign. Of course, that’s not whining.
Listen carefully to the US mainstream media coverage of the Democratic primary elections and you will here statements like this:
- virtually all African Americans are voting for Barack Obama
- virtually all Hispanics are voting for Hillary Clinton
- John Edwards supporters were all rural white men
- college educated people are voting for Barack Obama
- non college educated people are voting for Hillary Clinton
- young people are voting for Barack Obama
- senior citizens are voting for Hillary Clinton
- Barack Obama is the candidate of “change” even though he has the support of most of the Democratic party establishment
- Hillary Clinton is yesterday’s news because she has too much baggage and she is a part of the Democratic party establishment
- when Barack Obama wins a primary it is because he is a uniter who brings together people across all groups and,
- every time that Hillary Clinton wins it is because of “white women”.
Of course, some voters are probably conforming to those stereotypes. But the media is painting a pretty ugly picture of a Democratic party that is splitting along racial, gender and age lines? Is this really the case or could there be real issues at the heart of the election outcomes? Is anyone really taking an in depth look at the issues that separate the groups and not just focusing on the demographics?
If it’s all about race, sex and age then how do the pundits explain African American women like Maya Angelou and Reps. Sheila Jackson Lee (TX) and Maxine Waters (CA) who are supporting Hillary Clinton.
How do they explain all of the “white women” that I know who are so adamantly anti-Clinton that it’s hard not to confuse them with Ann Coulter?
How do you explain a little African American woman like myself, who supported John Edwards and who both admires and find faults with both Senators Clinton and Obama based on their stance on the issues.
And how do they explain that every time that they pronounce that it’s time for Hillary to just fade away, a large group of the American people say “Hillary Stay!”
They Just Can’t Explain It.
As for Hillary Clinton’s refusal to go away, the poetess Maya Angelou may have summed it up best when she shared this poem in The Observer:
“State Package for Hillary Clinton
You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I’ll rise.
This is not the first time you have seen Hillary Clinton seemingly at her wits’ end, but she has always risen, always risen, don’t forget she has always risen, much to the dismay of her adversaries and the delight of her friends.
Hillary Clinton will not give up on you and all she asks of you is that you do not give up on her.
There is a world of difference between being a woman and being an old female. If you’re born a girl, grow up, and live long enough, you can become an old female. But to become a woman is a serious matter. A woman takes responsibility for the time she takes up and the space she occupies. Hillary Clinton is a woman. She has been there and done that and has still risen. She is in this race for the long haul. She intends to make a difference in our country. Hillary Clinton intends to help our country to be what it can become.
She declares she wants to see more smiles in the family, more courtesies between men and women, more honesty in the marketplace. She is the prayer of every woman and man who longs for fair play, healthy families, good schools, and a balanced economy.
She means to rise.
Don’t give up on Hillary. In fact, if you help her to rise, you will rise with her and help her make this country the wonderful, wonderful place where every man and every woman can live freely without sanctimonious piety and without crippling fear.
Rise, Hillary.
Rise. “

Hillary doesn’t need to babysite Obama. So how about Hillary is going to be the candidate and Obama can be her running mate. I would vote for that.

LOL! This is funny because I keep hearing all these blanket statements, but they’re a bit ridiculous. (Says the white non-rural woman who was an Edwards supporter and voted for Obama.) White women fall into many different categories. And we aren’t voting exclusively for HRC (which may be part of her problem.) I think the MSM just hates that they can’t predict what’s going to happen or how we’re going to vote!

The last time the USA had a healthy economy and deficit was when there was a Clinton in office. I believe that Hilary has the contacts to put effective staff in place to lead us to a healthier USA in many ways!

Hello all of you. Wow. I am witnessing the breakdown of the Obama machine. All of you who attack with out facts and use innuendo are a little over the top. Obama has some serious issues he is facing. The nature of the issues and how he handled the issues are what voters are responding to. Firstly-no one really cares about Obama and Rezko. What offended me and many of my friends and associates is his denial on national tv during a debate on the eve of the SC primary. He is running his campaign on a speech where he identifies himself as the candidate of change, openness or transparency in government and as the new standard for ethics in politics. He says this day after day..a thousand ways. But, when asked a question about his relationship with his friend-he lied and said-”I do not know him. I did 6 billable hours of work for a law firm, representing a church, on a case he was involved with in Chicago.” Replay the debate-hear it for yourself.
On February 20th in the Chicago Tribune Obama issued a statement that was written by Axelrod saying he was adding a statement to his response about Rezko. He said and I quote- “he (Antoine Rezko) and I have been friends for over 17 years. We, Michele and I have gone to dinner occasionally with him and his wife. I did walk through my new house with him before I purchased it seeking real estate advice. Our visit there lasted 30 minutes. The next day I offered 1.65 mil for the house which ended up being 300,000k less than the asking price. Mrs Rezko bought the adjoining lot on the same day for 650,000. She later sold me a portion of the lot for 100,000. My gardener maintains the remaining property for the Rezkos and has since we moved in.”
This statement was issued by David Axelrod for Barak Obama-30 days after his initial denial response during the debate. No other questions were allowed or answered by Barak Obama. When a cadre of polite reporters asked him about his issue on the eve of the most recent primaries-he left the dais after saying he answered enough questions and would not answer anymore. You can view that interview and judge for yourself.
This is one of the issues that Barak must face-after all he set the standard and raised the bar as an honest politician..a new hopeful way of asking and answering and being accountable. That is what Barak preached to all of us and it came back to bite him.
That is what I am upset about. His inspirational behavior goes as far as the camera lens.
We are all apart to some skeletons in all of our closets that would not sit well with lots of ‘folks’ but he had an opportunity to answer the question honestly over the 4 years Mr Rezko has been in the limelight as an allegedly ‘crooked’ politician-and he did not.
To me, this is an egregious violation of trust by the man who would have us believe he is trustworthy beyond inspection.
This is not over yet-and it got this big for Mr Obama because he lied.
Perhaps this issue is what is making you and me angry? I don’t think Mrs Clinton winning had anything to do with Barak Obama failing us so soon.

Why is John McCain attacking Obama with everything he’s got?
Because he knows that if Hillary’s the candidate, the ‘pubs will turn out in droves. She doesn’t deserve it, but it’s a fact.
Polls don’t mean anything without turnout. And sadly, Senator Clinton will turn out the Republicans. We can’t risk that.
The Economist:
“If Democrats were to deprive Mr McCain of the chance of running against Hillary Clinton, that would be the cruellest blow. Mrs Clinton would be a one-woman solution to the Republicans’ problems, a guarantee that money will flow into the party’s coffers and that true-red voters will troop to the polls.”
“If what should be a cakewalk in November turns into a rout, the Democrats will know who to blame.”

I woke up this morning to see a fellow Highbrid Nation writer reporting that Hillary has won the Ohio and Texas primaries and how this is getting bad. And like him I feel like this battle between Obama and Hillary has went on too long and now they are in danger of hurting the party by allowing McCain to take shots at them while they are dealing with each other. Howard Dean should step in and say “Look, Obama is going to be the canidate and Hillary you can be his running mate if you choose”…I know I know that would never happen but a guy can dream right?
