Thank you for sharing such a great interview. I agree that it does not have to be an all or nothing commitment to make a difference and you don't have to sacrifice style to go green. It takes each of us making better choices as consumers (buying organic and fair trade when it's available even if it a few cents more, replacing needed products with more energy efficient products and choosing to not use plastic water bottles or plastic bags by using a reusable water bottle or grocery bag instead).

As a lifelong vegetarian and lover of nature, I take my commitment to environmental stewardship to heart. In fact, I've shifted careers and have just opened a new green shopping site featuring organic cosmetics, eco-friendly clothing, eco chic jewelry, recycled handbags and green gifts. We're certified carbon neutral by CarbonFund and pledge 1% of sales to environmental non-profits through an alliance with 1% For The Planet.

I just came across your blog! I created a company in memory of my 28 year old sister that died from breast cancer last year that supports giving back through shopping. Uptown Liz (www.uptownliz.com) promotes products from companies whose proceeds directly give back to charitable organizations. Thank you for doing your part to promote making a difference to those who are less fortunate (by writing about the environment, products that give back, etc.).

Catherine,

Thank you for joining the call, and for your extremely thoughtful questions. You're right - it is empowering when we women realize how much clout we have, and how we can use it to protect the environment. Women are flexing a lot of muscle right now, political and otherwise. We can do the same in the marketplace - and if we do, we WILL get the world we want.
