Bush’s Attempt To Further Deprive Katrina Victims
This is from a post at Op-Edna.
In this Congress’s first override of a presidential veto, the Senate stood up and voted to support rebuilding efforts in the Gulf Coast with $23 billion in essential new water projects.
The very same president who has put this country $9 trillion in debt (as of today, per Drudge Report) and seeing astounding $5 per gallon prices at the pump in California felt the bill was too expensive, such was the reason for his hasty veto.
“I don’t know why the president chose this bill to try to reassume the mantle of fiscal responsibility, but he picked the wrong bill,” said Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA).
That’s easy, Mary, he picked this bill to prove what a compassionate conservative he is NOT.
